The HP DDS-3 tapes are head and shoulders above the rest in my opinion. I've actually changed the Media Recognition on these to make them look like DDS-4 and they work fine (except they are 125m instead of 150m). Don't try this on your own; I just say it to illustrate the fine grade of tape, since they will even read back the denser DDS4 standard.

I have used this media without any problems even though it is not officially supported by Sony. I did upgrade the firmware of the drive to 1.0f though.
