The Precision Navigation RX5000 brings together complete radar coverage and a digital compass to create an essential vehicle accessory. The detector alerts you to all radar bands and provides 360-degree laser coverage. When no alerts or warnings are detected, the RX5000 displays directional information with numeric digits and cardinal points (e.g., N, NE, E). Other features include a VG-2, which alerts you to the presence of radar-detector detectors, and Safety Warning System (SWS) alerts regarding road hazards, emergency vehicles, and train crossings. The unit plugs into a 12-volt lighter with the included power cord and also comes with suction cups and Velcro tape for mounting either on the windshield or dashboard.

I just received my PNI RX5000 radar detector w/ compass. After calibrating it, I find it to be fun to watch as I drive around (scary huh?). I now find it unacceptable to just have it read 'HIGHWAY' and wait for the false signals or better yet, cops! Yikes! I stopped using my Passport 5000 due to me thinking that something was wrong with it. Every morning it freaks out 'LASER' blinking episodes. But after receiving my PNI RX5000 it is just the nature of the beasts. As a comparison, the PNI does not false alarm hardly at all. I haven't been hit by radar yet but it does catch the same banks and business's as the Passport, only it beeps once, not constantly for a long time like the passport. All in all, the PNI is a joy to have on my dash. They do caution you to not keep it in direct HOT sunlight as it 'may damage your unit'. At this point I am paranoid, leaving my moonroof open hoping it doesnt rain. Spend the money its worth the money!
