The Beltronics Express 916 can detect X, K, and wideband Ka radar, as well as laser signals. It can also detect Safety Warning System signals, which give drivers advance warning of emergency vehicles and road hazards.
Features include a nine-digit display, 65 digital voice prompts and/or audio alerts for radar, laser, and SWS detection. The Express 916 also remembers preferred settings, and includes instant-on/pulsed radar warning. Automatic and manual muting of audio alerts is provided for convenience, while a city/highway switch reduces the frequency of false warnings in densely populated urban areas.
Brackets are included for visor or windshield mounting, as are a spare fuse and a coiled six-foot power cord.

When it comes to Radar Detectors, you get what you pay for. Sure there are some for $50 but they just don’t prevent those $100 + speeding tickets. The Beltronics 980 is the best detector I have used and highly recommend it.
Radar detection is excellent and leaves the driver with plenty of time to react. Any radar coming from in front of you and from behind is detected. The display will give you a visual signal strength read out with audio alerts, which will increase in strength as you approach the radar or the radar approaches you. It works well on X, K, and KA Bands. Laser is a little more difficult to avoid since you practically get no warning until your hit. There are some false alerts with X Band since it is widely used for automatic doors, etc. There are very few false alerts with K and KA Band. The detector does an excellent job of screening out the garbage. It’s easy to learn what a false alert is after using it for a while. For example, the detector will emit a visual and audio alert very briefly for a second or two and go back into detection mode or the signal strength will stay very weak on your display (they don't use instant on around my parts). The detector also provides Shadow Technology making it invisible to any Radar Detector - Detector equipment (VG2). Although the bands of Police Radar differ from city to city, most Police radar used is K and KA.
The detector comes with all mounting hardware. You receive a Sun Visor clip, four non- slip pads (they stick to the bottom of the detector) if you want to rest it on your dash, or the suction cup hardware that allows for windshield mounting. It may take a few minutes to figure out how the windshield mounting attachments assemble together.
Using the detector is easy. It comes up in default factory mode and is set to pick up all bands of radar + laser + safety warning messages. There are basically two modes to choose from, city or highway (they can be customized for various bands). You will receive an audio warning and visual alert. You can turn off any functions you don’t need and customize it easily. I do suggest reading the manual for an excellent overview of all its features.
As radar detection evolves, the detector can be shipped back to be reprogrammed, which eliminates the need to purchase a new one.
I use the detector along a 30 mile stretch of highway that has several speed traps. The detector picks them all up and gives ample warning.
Pros: Easy to use, excellent radar detection capabilities, few false alerts, can be customized for any kind of driving, audio alerts are a big plus, rated number one.
