The V6000 Deluxe Car Monitoring System uses PNI's patented magnetic sensor technology--the same compass technology used by GM, Ford, and Chrysler. And its sleek new design and metallic finish will get everyone's attention.
In addition to a vehicle compass, the V6000 features an altimeter that can show elevation up to 19,990 feet, or 6,000 meters, and a barometer that can help determine weather patterns you'll be driving through. You can also set the compass to true or magnetic north declination.
The V6000 also includes automatic shutoff when the vehicle is parked for a few minutes, and distortion warning when magnetic interference from outside sources--such as steel from a bridge--is affecting compass accuracy. Intelligent Photo Diode senses light conditions and turns the backlight on or off automatically. An ICE alert displays at 35 degrees F or 1 degree C to warn of freezing conditions and potential black ice.
The system is easy to mount on a windshield with suction cups, and it comes with an adjustable bracket for optimal viewing (even on vertical windshields) and a structural design that reduces vibration. It provides accuracy within 5 degrees and operates on a long-life lithium battery for 1,200 hours (without backlight usage). A 12-volt adapter is included that inserts into a lighter socket to save battery life.

I have been looking for an altimeter for my car for a trip to the Calif. Gold country we have been planning. I have seen watches (which I was about to buy) and an old style analog gauge. I finally came across this. And with a compass to boot. It's a bit more money than I had planned to shell out but I figured that if I was not satisfied I would return it.
Well we went on our trip last weekend and after setting it up (this took a few minutes) it worked very well. It was within 20 feet of each altitude marker. Considering that the pressure was changing throughout the trip I was very pleased. But the compass iced it for me. I have a pretty good since of direction but knowing you're heading exactly is just too cool. Is this a guy thing?
