I've had this unit for 11 months and the exact same problem described below. So no, do not ignore those reviews. The player worked great until a couple of weeks ago. Then the picture started freezing, impossible to open the tray. Only solution was to turn the unit on and off several times to finally get the CD out. The latest thing it does is that the picture 'pixelizes' (big square pixels appearing on the righthand side of the sreen. The target warranty expired after three months, and my gues is that the cost of the repair (which is electronical and not mechanical, I already had a friend take a look at it) + labour + shipping is going to cost more than buying a new player. The DVD-RV26's design is obviously faulty. Beware.
