I bought this burner about a week ago and I've been extremely impressed with it. I've already burned about 20 flawless CD's (both audio & data).
First of all, Plextor is one of the top brands in CD burner technology. This model lives up to the name with solid construction and top quality. Secondly, the BURN-Proof technology ensures you don't get the dreaded 'buffer underrun' problem that is so prevalent with other burners that are USB-based. I've created countless coasters with other burners I tried because of that problem.....a problem that is non-existent with this machine.
An important thing to note is that if you're running USB 1.1, you will only be able to burn at 4x speed (which is the max throughput capabilities of USB 1.1). So, you'll need an upgrade to USB 2.0 (either via a USB 2.0 interface card which you can buy separately or waiting for your OS vendor to release a USB 2.0 driver update) to enjoy the full benefits of 24x speed burns.
I can't say enough good things about this burner after experiencing the headaches with low-quality burners from other vendors...
