This drive, which I recently purchased, tops even Maxtor's fastest drive. It's too bad Quantum isn't around anymore - I have an old Quantum 20GB Fireball 7200 RPM which is DAMN fast. However, the reliability, speed, and just overall quality is outstanding with all of the Deskstar Drives. A very reliable benchmark put this drive within 15% of a SCSI drive !! Not bad for [price]. One cautionary note - make sure your motherboard supports UDMA 100 or greater, or purchase a Promise Technology adapter card. It will NOT be as fast if you do not use the UDMA tech.
