I have had this modem (provided by my cable company) for about 6 months now and I have had no problems at all. This modem has a MAC address which I needed to provide to my cable company so they could link my service to the modem (not sure if other cable providers operate the same way). The performance has been good and if I have lost my connection, it has been the fault of the company/lines, not the modem. In which case, a phone call usually gets the problem resolved within a couple hours at most.
