Computer add-ons like cable modems should simply dissappear into your system. This modem does just that. Initial set up was flawless. The encluded software is very easy to use. Once the cables were hooked up and the MAC address was called into my cable provider I was on the WEB immediately. I haven't had to touch the modem or any other settings in the last 6 months. My brother has the same cable service as me but is using the modem that the cable company leases to him. He has to reset his modem often because of freeze-ups.
All in all, a very good product that works as it should.
